Respawn - [artist statement]

 Unpacking my childhood experiences through lenses imbued with ecocritical narratives on modern urban stratas, I seek to re-scale the foci of aesthetics in storytelling. Shifting the gaze from what is commodified as appealing and comfortable, I suspense my attention into what's blurred and left out within those frames. I depict the subdued complexities of human experiencings of modernity's arnamentariums, fascinated by how neglectfully I have and continue to yield from processes that harm natural environments, deepen inequality, and corrode relationships. My work encourages the viewer to bring into question the aspects of everyday life that are often subconscious by bringing additional elements into imagery that is nostalgic and canonical, and by refocusing what is already in the frame.  My most recent and ongoing project include explorations of urban landscapes in contemporary Poland through photography and field recording.
